„Labelling AI content: what companies really have to do"

When does AI generated content have to be labelled, which requirements apply to companies and where do common assumptions go wrong? Concrete examples instead of legal theory, ready to use in daily business.

Hendrik Schade is founder and managing director of @legal Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH in Potsdam. As a specialist lawyer for information technology law as well as for commercial and corporate law, he advises companies at the intersection of law, technology and entrepreneurial responsibility. Corporate law is one focus of his work. He supports companies, shareholders and management boards in shareholder disputes, M&A transactions, restructurings and succession processes, combining legal precision with a distinctly entrepreneurial approach and an eye for commercially viable solutions. A second focus is the legal side of using artificial intelligence, from implementing the EU AI Act and building AI governance and compliance structures to data protection, copyright and liability. What matters to him is translating regulatory requirements into company processes that people understand and that hold up in practice. Alongside his legal work, Hendrik Schade is an entrepreneur and business angel, develops his own business models and holds stakes in several companies. That entrepreneurial experience shapes his legal advice as well. Since 2012 he has also been a lecturer in the master programme in business law for technology companies at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. In his talk at KI & Croissants he uses concrete examples to show when AI generated content has to be labelled, which requirements apply to companies and where widespread assumptions about labelling duties do not match the actual legal situation.
